Admission
Admission Regulations
Applicants are required to lodge applications directly to the Bulongwa Health Sciences Institute campus or through the BHSI Online Admission System (OAS) at www.bhsi.ac.tz. After selection of applicants, BHSI submits lists of successful applicants to the National Council for Technical And Vocational Education And Training (NACTVET) and Ministry of Health (MoH) for approval. Upon approval, BHSI advertises the names of all applicants admitted into different study programmes. The final decision on who should be admitted is made by the Institute.
All new students are required to report for the orientation programme that normally takes place during the week preceding the beginning of the new academic year.
Successful applicants under self- sponsorship are registered only after they have paid the requisite Institute dues.
All fees paid will not be refunded.
All students, if accepted, are expected to conform entirely to institute regulations.
The deadline for registration of new applicants will be two weeks, from the first day of the orientation week; while for continuing students, it will be Friday of the third week after commencement of the first semester
No student will be allowed to change course after NACTE verification. Transferring from one study programme to another after admission and registration shall not be allowed.
a) Students discontinued on academic grounds from one programme may be allowed to apply into another programme provided that the institute approves.
b) Discontinued students wishing to re-apply in the same program with observing the institute admission
regulations.
Students will be allowed to be away from institute studies for a maximum of one years if they are to be allowed to be re-admitted to the same year of studies where they left off.
Students discontinued from studies because of examination irregularities will be considered for re-admission after they have been away for one years. They will be required to reapply and compete with other applicants for re-admission into first year.
No change of names by students will be entertained during the course of study at the institute and they will only be allowed to use names appearing on their academic certificates.
No student will be allowed to postpone studies after effective commencement of an academic
year except under special circumstances. Permission to postpone studies will be considered after
producing satisfactory evidence of the reasons for postponement and a written approval from the
sponsor where applicable. Special circumstances shall include:
a) Sickness;
b) Serious social problems (each case to be considered on its own merit); and
c) Severe sponsorship problems.
New students must submit relevant original documents within two first weeks of reporting
Students shall commit themselves in writing that they will abide with Institute regulations and those of the MoHSW
